LindtChocolates: Your essential buying guide
You can compare a range of chocolate options including bars, boxed chocolates, truffles, filled chocolates, sharing bags and gift selections. Look for the format, cocoa style and flavour combinations that best suit whether you are buying for yourself, a household treat or a present.
For gifting, consider presentation, variety and recipient preferences. Boxed selections and assorted chocolates work well when you are unsure of someone’s favourite flavour, while single-origin, dark chocolate or truffle-style options can feel more considered for specific tastes.
Check the cocoa percentage, added fillings, nuts, dairy content, sweeteners and any allergen information. If you are shopping for dietary needs, look for suitable labelling such as vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or no-added-sugar where available.
Dark chocolate is often less creamy and can taste more intense, especially at higher cocoa percentages, but sweetness varies by product. Milk chocolate usually has a smoother, sweeter profile, while white chocolate is typically creamy and vanilla-led rather than cocoa-rich.
Compare pack size, weight, number of pieces and format rather than looking at the headline offer alone. A larger sharing bag, multipack or gift box may suit different needs, so check the total quantity and type of chocolate before deciding.
Chocolates vary widely by flavour, texture, pack size and occasion. Use this guide to compare options more confidently, whether you are stocking up on treats, choosing a gift or looking for a specific dietary option.
Milk chocolate is a popular choice for a smooth, creamy taste, while dark chocolate suits shoppers who prefer a richer cocoa flavour. White chocolate offers a sweeter, creamier option without the same cocoa intensity.
Filled chocolates can add caramel, fruit, praline, nut, biscuit or cream centres, making them useful when you want variety. Plain bars are often better when you know the exact flavour or cocoa level you want.
For everyday snacking, individual bars, pouches and multipacks can be practical. For sharing, look at larger bags, tubs or mixed selections that offer a range of pieces.
For gifts, presentation matters as much as flavour. Boxed chocolates, truffle selections and assorted packs are easier to give than loose snack formats, especially when you are buying for birthdays, thank-yous or seasonal occasions.
Always review product information if you are buying for someone with allergies or specific dietary requirements. Chocolates may contain or be made around milk, nuts, soya, gluten or other common allergens.
Vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free chocolates are available in many styles, but suitability can vary by recipe. Look closely at the labelling rather than assuming a dark chocolate or plain bar will meet a particular need.
When comparing chocolates, check the net weight, number of pieces and whether the pack is designed for gifting, sharing or individual portions. A decorative gift box may contain less chocolate than a simple pouch or multipack.
If you are buying for a group, larger formats can be convenient, but smaller packs may be better for portion control or trying a new flavour without committing to a bigger quantity.
If chocolates are not quite right for the moment, other food treat categories such as biscuits, snack bars or spreads may suit different occasions. Chocolates remain the better fit when you want cocoa-led flavour, gifting appeal or a classic sweet treat.
