Shop Smarty is free for visitors to browse. The service is funded through commercial arrangements that can include affiliate commission, advertising, promoted placements and campaign services. This disclosure explains those arrangements and the distinction between paid material and ordinary product discovery features.
Commercial funding helps us operate the website, but it does not turn Shop Smarty into the seller of the products shown. A purchase contract remains between you and the retailer.
How Shop Smarty earns money
We may receive revenue in several ways:
a fee when someone clicks from Shop Smarty to a retailer or other partner;
commission when a click leads to a qualifying purchase, lead or other agreed action;
payment for sponsored products, promoted modules, display advertising, email placements or brand campaigns;
fixed campaign, tenancy, data or technology fees.
Affiliate links
Many outbound retailer links are affiliate links. They can contain a tracking parameter that tells a retailer or affiliate network that the visit came from Shop Smarty. If the visitor later completes a qualifying action within the partner's attribution rules, we may receive a commission.
Unless the retailer says otherwise, affiliate commission does not add a separate charge to the price you pay. The retailer controls its final price, delivery charge, availability, discount and checkout terms.
Not every retailer has a commercial relationship with us, and a commercial relationship does not guarantee that every product or offer from that retailer appears on the site.
Sponsored and promoted placements
A retailer, brand or other advertiser may pay for additional visibility. Paid material can appear in banners, hero panels, promotional cards, product rails, emails, category modules or another campaign format.
We aim to identify material whose position or inclusion is paid for with a clear label appropriate to the format, such as "Sponsored", "Advertisement", "Promoted" or "Paid partnership". The label should be visible before or at the point of interaction, rather than hidden in this disclosure alone.
How commercial relationships can affect results
Ordinary search, category and comparison ordering may use non-payment factors such as query relevance, taxonomy match, price, discount, delivery, stock signals, data quality, popularity and freshness. Personalised modules may also use saved or browsing activity where permitted.
Commercial arrangements can still affect the service in important ways:
a retailer or affiliate network may determine which offers and data are available for inclusion;
a paid campaign may select or prioritise content inside a clearly marked sponsored placement;
commercial eligibility, reliable destination links or tracking quality may affect whether an offer can be published; and
promotional modules can be scheduled for a retailer, brand, category or audience as part of a campaign.
Unless a page explicitly says so, the first item shown is not guaranteed to be the cheapest, most popular or best choice for every user. Check the retailer's live page and compare the features that matter to you.
Editorial content and recommendations
Guides, category introductions, recommendation rails and other content may be created or ordered using editorial judgement, product data, popularity signals, automated rules or artificial-intelligence tools. A product being described as popular, recommended, trending or relevant does not by itself mean that its retailer paid for that description.
Where an advertiser has paid for or exercised material control over content, the relationship should be disclosed clearly. Free products, samples, hospitality or another material benefit provided for content creation should also be disclosed where relevant.
Automated or editorial recommendations are general shopping information, not professional advice or a promise that a product is suitable for a particular person.
Market coverage and price accuracy
Shop Smarty does not cover every retailer or offer in the market. Coverage depends on available data, valid retailer destinations, commercial or technical integrations, category scope and quality controls. An absent retailer may therefore have a lower price or a product not shown by us.
Retailer and partner data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. The final price, stock, variant, delivery cost and terms shown by the retailer at the time of purchase take priority. A displayed saving may be based on retailer data, a previous price, recommended price or another comparison basis that should be stated on the relevant page where required.
Referral measurement and privacy
Affiliate and advertising measurement can involve click identifiers, referral parameters, browser storage, server logs or conversion reports from a retailer or network. Where device storage or access requires consent, it should be used only after that choice. Some contextual links and server-side records may operate without optional advertising storage where lawful.
See our cookie policy for the current browser-storage inventory and our privacy policy for information about purposes, sharing, lawful bases, retention and rights.
Independent retailers
A listing or commercial relationship is not a guarantee of a retailer's financial condition, product quality or customer service. We may apply data, destination and conduct checks and may suspend or remove offers, but users should carry out their own checks before buying.
Retailer trademarks and product assets remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply ownership of Shop Smarty or a partnership beyond the relevant listing, affiliate or advertising arrangement.
Changes to this disclosure
We may update this disclosure when the revenue model, ranking systems, campaign formats or applicable standards change. The revision date at the top shows the current version. A new commercial format should be assessed for appropriate on-page labelling before launch, rather than waiting for the next policy review.
