Shop Smarty uses cookies and related browser-storage technologies to operate accounts and requested features, remember choices, measure use and, where permitted, personalise content or advertising. This policy explains what those technologies do and how you can control them.
The inventory below is based on the current site code. It must be checked against the production website and Google Tag Manager configuration before publication because tags and vendor cookies can change independently of an application release.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text record that a website asks a browser to store. Cookies can be temporary, ending when the browser session ends, or persistent, remaining until their expiry or deletion. A first-party cookie is set for the Shop Smarty domain; a third-party technology may be supplied by another organisation.
We also use browser features such as local storage and session storage. They can hold identifiers, preferences and saved feature data without using a conventional cookie. Privacy rules can apply to these technologies in the same way when information is stored on or accessed from your device.
Our consent approach
Technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you request may be used without consent. A technology is not strictly necessary merely because it is useful to us. Where consent is required, non-essential analytics, marketing or personalisation storage should remain disabled until you make a clear choice.
Our consent manager offers Essential, Analytics and Marketing choices. It records those choices in first-party local storage and communicates them to Google Consent Mode. You can reject non-essential categories and still browse the core service, although optional personalisation or measurement features may be reduced.
The categories we use
Essential
These support security, sign-in, consent choices and a feature you specifically request. They cannot normally be switched off through our consent tool because the relevant service would not work correctly.
Functional
These remember optional product lists, recently viewed items or similar preferences on the device. Some functional storage is initiated only when you use the feature. Whether consent is required depends on the precise purpose and legal exception.
Analytics
These help us understand how visitors use pages and features, diagnose journeys and measure performance. Where consent is required, analytics storage should be denied until you accept it.
Marketing and personalisation
These can help select relevant promotions, measure advertising or link activity across visits and services. They are optional and should be used only after the required permission.

Account feature records may also be stored in our database after sign-in. Database retention is described in the privacy policy; it is not governed solely by the browser-storage duration shown above.
Third-party tags and services
The site loads Google Tag Manager container GTM-WQ9T3L73 with Google Consent Mode defaults set to deny analytics and advertising storage until the corresponding choice is granted. Tags configured inside the container may create or read additional identifiers, make network requests or share event information with their provider.
We also use Google for optional account sign-in, Resend for email delivery, affiliate networks for retailer-referral measurement and browser push services when you enable push notifications. These services may use their own technologies in the relevant context.
A retailer you visit has its own cookie and privacy practices. Shop Smarty does not control the storage used after you leave our site.
How to manage your choices
Use the button below to clear the stored consent decision and reopen the preferences prompt. Saving a new choice may reload the page so that tags already running are stopped or restarted correctly.
You can also delete or block cookies and site data through your browser. Browser controls vary, but are usually found under privacy, cookies, site data or tracking settings. Blocking all storage can sign you out, remove saved items from that device and prevent requested features from working.
You may need to change settings separately on each browser, device or browser profile. Private-browsing sessions generally discard storage when the session ends, subject to the browser's implementation.
Retention and withdrawing consent
The table gives the browser-side duration currently set in code. A vendor may apply a different duration to a technology it controls, which must be recorded after the production audit. We will not treat an old choice as permanent and should refresh consent at an appropriate interval or when purposes or vendors materially change.
Withdrawing consent affects future activity. It does not make prior lawful processing unlawful. Some aggregated or anonymised statistics may remain after identifiers are deleted.
Personal information and your rights
Some identifiers and activity records are personal information because they can distinguish a device, session or account. Our privacy policy explains the purposes, lawful bases, sharing, retention and rights that apply.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when technologies, suppliers or legal requirements change. The revision date appears at the top. Material changes may also be highlighted through the consent interface or another suitable notice.
Questions about storage technologies can be sent to Shop Smarty and Data protection complaints are handled under our complaint handling policy.
