TCL Tablets: Your essential buying guide
Smaller tablets are easier to hold, carry and use one-handed, making them useful for reading, commuting and casual browsing. Larger tablets give you more room for watching video, editing documents, drawing, split-screen apps and using a keyboard case.
For basic browsing, streaming and cloud-based apps, a lower storage capacity may be enough. Choose more storage if you plan to keep lots of apps, games, photos, videos, downloads or creative files on the device, especially if the tablet does not support expandable storage.
A Wi-Fi tablet is suitable if you mainly use it at home, work, school or anywhere with reliable wireless internet. A cellular model can be useful if you need mobile data while travelling, commuting or working away from Wi-Fi, though you should also factor in any separate data plan requirements.
Tablets can be very useful for note-taking, reading, video calls, research, email and light document work. If you want to type for long periods or use desktop-style software, check keyboard support, multitasking features, app compatibility and whether the screen size feels comfortable.
Common tablet accessories include a protective case, screen protector, stylus, keyboard cover, stand and charger. Prioritise accessories that match how you will use the tablet, such as a stylus for drawing or handwritten notes, or a keyboard case for regular typing.
Choosing the right tablet comes down to screen size, performance, storage, connectivity and the way you plan to use it day to day. Use these pointers to compare tablets more confidently on ShopSmarty.
For streaming, browsing and social media, focus on a comfortable display, reliable battery life and enough storage for your favourite apps. A lightweight design can make a big difference if you use the tablet on the sofa, in bed or while travelling.
For study, work or creative tasks, look more closely at processor performance, memory, stylus support, keyboard compatibility and multitasking features. These details matter if you plan to edit documents, draw, annotate PDFs or keep several apps open.
Compact tablets are easier to carry and often suit reading, quick browsing and children’s use. Larger tablets are better for films, video calls, digital art, spreadsheets and side-by-side apps, but they can be less convenient to hold for long periods.
Display resolution, brightness and colour quality are worth comparing if you watch a lot of video, edit images or read for extended sessions. A sharper, brighter screen can feel more comfortable and more immersive.
Entry-level tablets can handle simple tasks, but demanding games, creative apps and heavier multitasking benefit from stronger processors and more memory. If you want the tablet to feel responsive for longer, performance is worth weighing up alongside cost.
Storage is especially important if you download films, store photos, install many apps or play large games. Also consider the tablet’s operating system and app ecosystem, as this affects which apps, accessories and services will work best for you.
Wi-Fi-only tablets are a practical choice for home, school, office and café use where wireless internet is readily available. They are often enough for streaming, shopping, studying and general browsing.
Cellular tablets add flexibility when you need internet access away from Wi-Fi. Before choosing one, consider how often you will use mobile data and whether the extra connectivity is genuinely useful for your routine.
When comparing tablets, look beyond the device itself. Cases, styluses, keyboards, chargers and extra storage or cloud services can all affect the overall value of your setup.
ShopSmarty is designed to help you discover and compare tablet options across current sale and shopping opportunities, so you can narrow down models that suit your screen, storage, performance and connectivity needs.
