Ninja Food Processors: Your essential buying guide
Choose a smaller bowl for quick chopping, dips and everyday prep in compact kitchens, or a larger capacity if you regularly cook for a family, batch cook or prepare bigger quantities of vegetables. Check both the total bowl size and usable capacity, as these can differ.
Common useful attachments include chopping blades, slicing discs, grating discs and dough tools. The right choice depends on how you cook: slicing and grating discs are handy for salads and vegetables, while a strong chopping blade is useful for sauces, breadcrumbs, nuts and general prep.
No. A food processor is mainly designed for preparing ingredients, such as chopping, slicing, shredding and puréeing. A food mixer is usually better for beating, whisking and mixing batters or doughs. Some appliances overlap, so compare the included tools and intended use before choosing.
Look for removable bowls, blades and lids, smooth controls, and dishwasher-safe parts where stated by the manufacturer. Food can collect around seals, feed tubes and blade hubs, so designs with fewer awkward gaps can be easier to maintain.
Motor power matters most if you plan to process firm vegetables, nuts, dough or larger batches. For lighter chopping and blending tasks, capacity, blade quality and control settings can be just as important as wattage.
A good food processor can speed up repetitive kitchen prep, but the best option depends on what you cook, how much space you have and which attachments you will genuinely use. Use ShopSmarty to compare food processors by practical features so you can narrow down the models that fit your kitchen routine.
Bowl size is one of the most important choices. Compact food processors are useful for small kitchens, sauces, dips and quick chopping jobs, while larger bowls suit batch cooking, family meals and preparing vegetables in bigger quantities.
If you cook in varied amounts, look at whether the processor includes different bowl sizes or a smaller insert bowl. This can make it easier to handle both small and larger prep tasks without wasting space.
A standard chopping blade may be enough for many kitchens, especially if you mainly make breadcrumbs, chopped vegetables, pesto-style sauces or purées. If you prepare salads, slaws or gratins, slicing and grating discs can be more useful.
Avoid choosing purely by the number of accessories. More attachments can add versatility, but only if you have storage space and will use them regularly.
Pulse settings are helpful for controlling texture, especially when chopping onions, nuts or herbs. Variable speeds can also help you move between rough chopping and smoother processing.
If you want even slices or shreds, pay attention to the included discs and feed tube design. A wider feed tube can reduce pre-cutting, while adjustable slicing options may offer more flexibility.
Food processors can take up more worktop and cupboard space than expected, particularly when they include multiple discs, blades and bowls. Measure your available storage area and consider whether the processor will live on the worktop or be put away after each use.
A tidy accessory storage solution can make a difference if you want to keep sharp blades and discs organised safely.
If your main tasks are chopping, slicing, grating and puréeing, a food processor is usually the most relevant choice. If you mainly bake cakes, whisk egg whites or knead dough, you may also want to compare broader food mixer and processor options before deciding.
For a wider kitchen refresh, it can also be useful to view food processors alongside other kitchen appliances so your choices fit your cooking setup and available space.
