Tower Cookware Sets: Your essential buying guide
Start with the pieces you will use most: a small and medium saucepan, a frying pan and a larger pot or casserole are common essentials. Then compare material, non-stick coating, lid inclusion, handle type, oven suitability and compatibility with your hob, especially if you use induction.
A smaller 3 to 5 piece cookware set may suit occasional cooking, compact kitchens or students. Larger sets can be useful for families or keen cooks, but check what counts as a piece, as lids are often included in the total.
Non-stick cookware sets are useful for everyday cooking, especially eggs, pancakes, fish and lower-oil meals. They usually need gentler utensils and careful cleaning, so consider stainless steel, hard anodised or ceramic-style options if durability and high-heat cooking are priorities.
Only induction-compatible cookware will work on an induction hob. Look for clear induction suitability in the product details, often shown with an induction symbol or magnetic base information.
A cookware set can be convenient if you need several matching essentials at once and want consistent materials and styling. Individual pans are better when you only need to replace one item or want a specialist piece such as a wok, sauté pan or stockpot.
The right cookware set should match how you actually cook, not just fill a cupboard. Use ShopSmarty to compare options across materials, sizes and included pieces so you can find a set that fits your hob, storage space and everyday meals.
Look closely at what is included rather than relying only on the piece count. A useful everyday set often includes saucepans in different sizes, a frying pan and a larger pan for pasta, soups or batch cooking.
If lids are counted as separate pieces, a 5 piece set may include fewer pans than expected. Check the contents list so you know exactly what you are comparing.
Hob compatibility is one of the most important checks. Gas, ceramic, electric and induction hobs can have different requirements, and induction cookware needs a suitable magnetic base.
If you may change hob type in the future, a set with broad hob compatibility can be a safer long-term choice.
Stainless steel sets are popular for a classic look and everyday versatility, while aluminium and hard anodised sets are often chosen for lighter handling and responsive heating. Non-stick finishes can make cleaning easier, but they need appropriate utensils and care.
For oven use, check both the pan body and the handles. Some cookware sets are oven-safe only up to a stated temperature, and glass lids or soft-touch handles may have separate limits.
A large cookware set can look appealing, but it needs enough cupboard space. Stackable designs, removable handles or slimmer lids can make a difference in smaller kitchens.
Weight also matters. Heavier pans may feel sturdy, but lighter sets can be easier to lift when full, especially for larger pots and casseroles.
Cookware sets are ideal for building a coordinated base, but they may not include every specialist pan. If you already own the basics, comparing individual frying pans, stockpots or sauté pans may help you fill a specific gap without duplicating items.
Use the set as your foundation, then add specialist cookware only when it supports the meals you cook regularly.
