Swati Contact Lenses: Your essential buying guide
Use the exact details from your contact lens prescription, not just your glasses prescription. Check the power, base curve, diameter and any additional details such as cylinder and axis for toric lenses, or add power for multifocal lenses.
Daily disposable lenses are worn once and thrown away after use, so they do not usually need cleaning or storage. Monthly lenses are reused for a set period and require the correct cleaning solution and case care, making them better suited to shoppers comfortable with a maintenance routine.
Yes. Look for toric contact lenses and compare the full prescription range, including power, cylinder and axis. Astigmatism lenses need to sit in a particular orientation on the eye, so brand and fit are especially important.
They serve a similar purpose by helping with more than one viewing distance, but they work differently on the eye. If you need help with near and distance vision, compare multifocal contact lenses using the add power and fitting details supplied by your optician.
Check that the lens brand, prescription details, pack size, replacement schedule and wearing instructions match what you have been fitted for. Also consider any care products required for reusable lenses, and avoid switching lens types without professional advice.
Contact lenses can look very similar at a glance, but small differences in fit, material and prescription range can affect comfort and vision. Use this guide to compare options more confidently before deciding what to shortlist.
A contact lens prescription is specific to lenses worn on the eye. It may include measurements such as base curve and diameter, alongside power and any astigmatism or multifocal values.
If you already wear a particular lens, compare like for like unless your optician has advised a change. Matching the full specification helps avoid choosing a lens that is technically the right strength but the wrong fit.
Daily disposable lenses suit shoppers who want a fresh pair for each wear and a simple routine. They can be useful for occasional wear, holidays or alternating with glasses.
Reusable lenses, such as two-weekly or monthly lenses, are worn again after cleaning and storing correctly. When comparing them, remember to factor in the care routine as well as the lenses themselves.
Standard spherical lenses are designed for common short-sighted or long-sighted prescriptions. Toric lenses are made for astigmatism and include additional prescription values.
Multifocal contact lenses are designed for people who need support at more than one distance. Coloured contact lenses may be cosmetic or prescription-based, but still need to be suitable for your eyes and fitted correctly.
Pack size affects how long a supply may last, especially if you wear lenses every day rather than occasionally. Compare the number of lenses per box and remember that most prescriptions require separate boxes for left and right eyes if the powers differ.
Also check whether the lenses are intended for daily wear only or a different wearing pattern. Follow the instructions provided for the specific lens and avoid wearing lenses for longer than advised.
Lens material, water content and design can influence how a lens feels, but comfort is personal. If your eyes feel dry or irritated, it is best to seek professional advice rather than simply switching to another product.
For reusable contact lenses, compare the required cleaning and storage routine. The correct solution and lens case hygiene are part of safe lens wear, not optional extras.
