Dove Exfoliating Body Scrub Crushed Macadamia & Rice Milk Scent 225ml
DoveBody Scrubs: Your essential buying guide
A body scrub is used to exfoliate the skin on the body. It helps remove built-up dead skin cells from the surface, which can leave skin feeling smoother and better prepped for moisturiser or other body care products.
Consider how sensitive your skin feels and how often you want to exfoliate. If you prefer a lighter touch, look for gentler textures. If you want a more thorough exfoliating feel, choose a scrub with a coarser texture, but use it less often.
That depends on your skin type and the formula. Many shoppers use a body scrub once or twice a week, but if your skin is easily irritated you may prefer less frequent use. Always follow the product directions.
Yes, many shoppers use a body scrub before self tan to help create a smoother surface. Exfoliating beforehand can help remove rough patches so self-tan products apply more evenly.
Most people use a body scrub during a shower or bath on clean, damp skin. This makes it easier to spread the product and rinse it away afterwards, before applying body lotion or another moisturiser.
Body scrubs are made for shoppers who want to add exfoliation to a body care routine. The main choice is between gentler and more textured formulas, depending on how smooth you want your skin to feel and how often you plan to use the scrub. If you are building a wider skincare routine, it can help to think about how body scrubs fit alongside moisturising, self-tan prep and everyday cleansing. The right pick is usually the one that suits your skin feel and routine rather than the strongest-feeling exfoliation.
A finer texture is often a better starting point if your skin is sensitive or you prefer a more subtle exfoliating feel. It can give you a smoother finish without feeling too abrasive.
A more textured body scrub may suit shoppers who want a deeper exfoliating routine for rougher areas such as elbows, knees and legs.
Some people use body scrubs as part of a weekly body care reset, while others save them for specific moments such as before moisturising or self-tan application.
If you already use a body lotion, a scrub can complement that routine by helping the skin feel smoother before you apply your moisturiser.
A body scrub should fit easily into the way you already care for your skin. If you prefer simple routines, look for a formula that is easy to use in the shower or bath and straightforward to rinse away.
If you are focused on a fuller skincare routine, body scrubs can sit alongside other personal care steps without replacing daily cleansing or moisturising.
If your goal is smoother skin all over, it can help to compare body scrubs with other body care products in the same routine. Some shoppers like to pair exfoliation with moisturising, while others use it mainly as a prep step before self tan.
Nearby categories such as body lotions, self tan and tan enhancers may also help you build a routine that feels consistent from one step to the next.
